Alison Marseglia

Alison Marseglia is a member of the United States Coast Guard Band trumpet section. She attended Baylor University from 2020-2023 where she worked with Wiff Rudd and Mark Schubert, graduating cum laude with her Bachelor of Music Performance degree. In 2023, Alison won first prize in both the National Trumpet Competition’s Denny Edlebrock Military Excerpt Division, and the International Trumpet Guild’s Ryan Anthony Memorial Competition: Orchestral Excerpt Division. Alison attended the Eastern Music Festival (2021) and the Brevard Music Center (2023) where she worked with Judith Saxton, Ryan Beach, and Ray Riccomini, among others. As a college student, she was an active freelancer in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, and has performed with the symphonies of Waco, Austin, and Alabama. Alison is a substitute musician with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and has also played with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. Beyond trumpet, Alison enjoys arranging for brass quintet and hiking.

In college, Alison was an active educator in local school districts in Waco, TX, teaching several students a week and coaching band trumpet sections. Alison enjoys working with students of all ages, and is experienced starting beginners and working with young students. Some of her older students in Texas were accepted into the highly competitive all-region and all-area TMEA festivals by audition. Alison also works with students applying to music school who are preparing for college auditions. She has presented masterclasses at the University of North Texas and the University of Alabama for their respective studios, and she is excited to give a presentation on professional auditions at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah in May, 2025. Alison feels motivated to be an inspiring musical mentor for students because she has worked with fantastic educators, and knows that a positive experience can be life-changing.
