Karin Carlson

Ms. Karin Carlson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Ms. Carlson is currently the Orchestra Director at East Lyme High School in Connecticut. In addition to her orchestral duties she teaches classroom guitar, music history, and general music. Ms. Carlson is also the director of the Junior String Ensemble at the Thames Valley MUsic School in New London, CT.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Carlson performs with the Mystic String Trio, the Con Brio Orchestra, and section substitute with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. As a freelance violist and violinist she performs weddings, church services, pit orchestras, and other musical events.

Ms. Carlson is an active member of the Connecticut Music Educators Association, American String Teachers Association, and the New England Music Educators Association. Ms. Carlson was this year’s ensemble chair for the 2015 Connecticut Eastern Region Orchestra who performed in January at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
