Leah Thomas began playing cello at age eight, and grew up playing in the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, not to mention her own family’s string quartet. After a year at the Hartt School of Music studying under Terry King, Leah transferred to Boston University and completed her degree in cello performance in 2005. At Boston University she studied under Michael Reynolds and coached with Yuri Mazurkevich, Lucia Lin, Peter Zazofsky, and George Neikrug. After college, Leah gigged with several Boston area orchestras, as well as the Company Theater in Norwell, MA, among other community groups.
From her early years as a cellist, Leah has enjoyed playing wedding ceremonies and receptions, sometimes solo but often as part of a duo, trio, or quartet. Since 2004, she has offered private lessons and currently teaches out of the Thames Valley Music School in New London, CT. Leah joined the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra (ECSO) in 2017.
