Tyler Campbell

Tyler is an active drummer/percussionist who enjoys playing in a variety of ensembles. He has had the privilege to play for multiple productions in the Nutmeg Summer Series at the Connecticut Repertory Theatre, along with productions at Castle Craig Players and Playhouse on Park. Spending some time in the New York scene, Tyler frequently plays with the Chelsea Symphony in Manhattan. As percussionist, guitarist and vocalist, he has taken the stage with bands at some of Manhattan’s highlight venues including Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End and Mercury Lounge. You can also find him in the Hartford area where he subs in with groups such as the Rob Zappulla Big Band and Mike Palin’s “Other Orchestra.”

A passionate educator, Tyler has taught percussion at many schools across the state of CT. He currently serves as percussion caption head to Newtown Highschool, as well as the University of Connecticut where he coordinates and arranges for the battery percussion section. In the past he has worked with WGI Medalist Trumbull High School and the 7th Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps.  Through his teaching, Tyler enjoys finding and exploiting the relationships between different styles and approaches to percussion. With respect to any student’s desired focus, he aims to foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity and versatility. Tyler is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team and a proud endorser of Vic Firth products.
